About the event

Temporal Deprogramming: Time, Temporality, and the Future(s)

Tuesday, November 15th @ 7PM PST

Tuesday, December 15th @ 7PM PST

Tuesday, January 19th @ 7PM PST

This three-part workshop series explores how time, temporality, and the future have been imagined, constructed, measured, and experienced across scientific, philosophical, and cultural traditions. We will examine the historical development of dominant Western concepts of time alongside Black, Indigenous, and Afrodiasporan cultural practices and traditions that engage questions of spacetime, memory, history, futurity, and lived experience. Across the three workshops, participants will be invited to think critically about the temporal structures that shape how we understand ourselves, our histories, and our possible futures and to consider how those structures might be examined, disrupted, and reimagined. Optional readings and multimedia materials will be made available in a course packet for those who wish to continue exploring workshop themes independently.
